Any device. One simple sleep CSV.
Make a readable sleep diary or adapt an export using clearly named columns.
Start with two columns
The minimum useful format is date and duration_minutes. Write dates as YYYY-MM-DD, and give the total minutes asleep as a number. For example, 450 means seven hours and thirty minutes.
Add timing if you have it
Optional bedtime and wake_time columns use 24-hour HH:MM times. Deep, REM, light and awake minutes are optional. Do not invent stage measurements for a device that does not report them.
Check the import warnings
Wearable exports use different names and units. KnowNaps recognizes common formats and shows warnings when it infers units or skips a record. Review the table after importing, especially if a night looks unexpectedly long or short. Use “Choose the columns and units” to preview a CSV with explicit date order and duration units. This helps with undocumented formats without pretending they are verified native exports.
Keep your original
Use the template as a starting point and keep the original export as your source of truth. Downloading the normalized CSV lets you take your data to another tool whenever you want.
